Heterogeneity of plastics, the presence of regulated additives, and a high proportion of dark plastics... The sorting of plastics within waste streams from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) represents a real challenge for the industry.
To address these recycling challenges, and after noting the difficulty of accessing a comprehensive overview of various plastic sorting processes, we aimed to develop an exhaustive guide. This guide presents the plastic sorting technologies from WEEE currently referenced, allowing for comparison between them.
Overview of the Guide:
-
28 technologies assessed with detailed technical sheets
-
Simplified evaluation through 10 comparison criteria
-
6 months of research and data aggregation.
Eco-Design and Sustainable Manufacturing Approach
This project is the result of a partnership between ecosystem and the ’Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), as part of the Urban Mining Chair. The goal is to support the optimization of sorting processes to provide industry with high-quality plastics free of hazardous substances.
Do you work in a sorting or recycling center for WEEE or plastic waste? Are you a producer of electrical and electronic equipment? Or are you simply interested in the issue of plastic waste sorting? This guide is a valuable tool for knowledge acquisition and decision-making on plastic sorting.
