Product passport, the guarantee of a successful 2nd life!

It's new and it's good news for the circular economy. The product passport is coming out soon. Its benefit is to help you choose your secondhand appliance: the date of manufacture and of its launch, instructions, repairs, etc.
For instance, let’s say your car’s electrical and electronic equipment has its own identity card and maintenance manual. That's what the product passport offers tracking every event in the device's life cycle, from manufacture to recycling. To access this information, all you have to do is scan the product passport QR code affixed to each appliance.
What are the benefits for consumers?
When consumers are questioned on the reasons they hesitate to by refurbished appliance, one out of two explain that he is afraid to encounter a problem or a rapid breakdown*. The product passport provides the solution. Available on a single and secure digital medium, it contains all the product information: date of manufacture, date of repair, date of reconditioning. The passport also provides useful services such as instructions, maintenance advice and information on how to dispose properly of the product.
Who is behind this passport?
ecosystem and Fnac-Darty are behind the launch of this collaborative project. The development of this passport is financed by ecosystem with a clear objective: roll out this innovative solution so that all manufacturers, distributors, repairers, actors of reuse and reconditioners join the movement in the future.
Just launched with 4000 appliances supplied by Darty, this experiment should rapidly be deployed in 2025.
