weee EUROPE: a unique and simplified European service for declaring products placed on the markets
weee EUROPE, of which ecosystem is a member, brings together the WEEE producer-responsibility organisations of the 27 countries of the European Union, as well as the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.
Making administrative procedures easier at a European level
Manufacturers, distance sellers, importers and sellers of electrical and electronic equipment under their own brand, designated as “producers” according to the WEEE Directive, must manage complicated but essential administrative declaration procedures for the products they have placed on European markets, and take into account regulations that are specific to each country.
Under the European WEEE Directive, ecosystem and 8 European producer responsibility organisations decided to create a joint company in 2013 called weee Europe and based in Munich.
Operational since 2016, weee EUROPE offers member producers a unique and simplified service in declaring the products placed on markets in Europe.
It manages the registration of producers from each country and allows the declarations of products placed on markets to be declared on a single platform thereby simplifying the declaration process and limiting possible errors whilst facilitating reporting.
In addition to these declaration functionalities, producers can also request a summary report of the current WEEE and battery regulations for each country. They can also find help on compliance and benefit from a simplified system for establishing and signing contracts.
A vision of excellence and wide geographical coverage
Today, weee Europe includes producer responsibility organisations covering WEEE and Batteries (and sometimes packaging) in the 27 European Union countries as well as the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.
